5 Reasons Why My Patients Love Me

[vc_row][vc_column width=\”1/1\”][vc_column_text]Sometimes people ask me, “Dr. Canto, why do your patients love you so much.” It’s hard to answer sometimes because I don’t feel like I’m doing anything special. When patients come in for an appointment, I try to be myself as much as possible. That way, we can build a real relationship – one that is a mix of friendship and professional trust. This is the kind of relationship that all dentists should strive to have with their patients. It’s important to remain open, confident, and understanding, especially in cosmetic dentistry. Here are a few reasons why my patients love me:

I show my sense of humor

When patients come in, it’s important to make them feel comfortable. They often feel anxious or even scared. As medical professionals, it’s important that dentists do everything they can to calm fears and put patients at ease. One way I do this is to show my real personality. A good sense of humor goes a long way in relieving tension and anxiety.

I rarely cancel appointments

It’s important to be organized. People come in anxious sometimes, and this can very easily turn to frustration and anger. Time management and organization are important tools in maintaining a schedule that my team and I can handle. My dental team is amazing, and I never want them to feel overloaded or overwhelmed. Having a relaxed team is just as important as having relaxed patients, so we all work together to maintain an organized schedule. We don’t want anyone waiting too long for the attention and care that they want.

I listen to their concerns

Many patients, especially those coming in for cosmetic treatment, can be sensitive about their condition. Being sensitive to and understanding of their needs is a vital part of making patients feel at ease. Listening to what they have to say and what they want goes a long way in building a good relationship and helping them reach the goals they have set.

I believe that communication is key

Listening and speaking alike are key to building trust and a good relationship. My patients love me because I take the time to listen to them, their needs and desires. Open communication and honesty is a great way to find out what a patient is really looking for as well as what they can afford. That way, we can work together to find the best option available to them.

I am always honest about the seriousness of the situation

This is where the professional part of the mix really comes into play. While the comfort of my patients is very important to me, so is education. My patients need to know exactly what they’re dealing with and how serious the situation is. It can be hard to deliver this kind of news sometimes, but it’s necessary. With proper education, patients are more open to learning what they need to do to change it as well as following through with it.

Together, we can get patients to a beautiful, healthy smile that they can be proud of![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
